What We Do
Club Rides
We offer over 20 club rides a week. All of these are ‘just turn up and ride’ and we split into smaller groups if necessary at the start of the ride. Every group has a Ride Leader.
Ride Timetable
This is a general timetable but all rides are subject to change. Routes for all rides are posted in advance on our private Facebook group.
Please check the group before you set off for a ride and download the route to your device.

Additional Rides
Throughout the year there are many additional rides that take place.
In March, we have our ‘At Home Training Camp’ week which includes longer rides, a hills day and a skills day at a track such as Cyclopark. Every summer there is the ‘One Day Tour’ where we travel somewhere else to ride for a day. In previous years, this has taken place in France and more recently has involved circumnavigating the Isle of Wight.
There are opportunities for cycling abroad as well as longer UK based trips. Each year there is a week-long ‘training camp’ in Mallorca, which many of our members attend. In September 2022, there is an organised ‘Way of the Roses’ trip, and many of our members will be cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats together in summer 2022. To help increase fitness after the winter months, we offer a 50 mile course, where rides build from 25 to 50 miles across a 6 week period.
During the summer we take advantage of the longer days and better weather with seaside rides, which if possible include an option to do a shorter version of the ride and return by train, to accommodate all levels of rider. We also attend sportives both locally and further afield, painting them pink with our distinctive kit! Other important rides for us are our Club 25 ride, which celebrates the Club’s anniversary in June and our annual ‘Bacon Butty Ride’ each January.
Indoor Rides
Zwifting has become an important aspect of Club life for many members over the last few years. We enter KVG and KVB teams into the Tuesday night ZRL Zwift Racing leagues during the winter seasons. KVG teams also often participate in Thursday night Team Time Trials and take part in staged events such as the Tour de Zwift.
If all rides are cancelled due to poor weather then a Zwift meet-up usually takes place as a substitute.
During the winter months there is also the option to take part in weekly turbo training sessions with our Head Coach Bee.
Events
We meet off our bikes at various points during the year.
Events include:
- a Christmas meal,
- an end of training camp meal,
- a goal setting evening,
- a first aid evening,
- a ‘how to Zwift’ evening,
- our Annual General Meeting and more.
There is also a KVG book club.
We are a social group and what starts as chatting on a ride often grows into a beautiful friendship!
KVG Limericks…
There was a lady cyclist from Kent
Who decided to sign up for an event
She Said ‘Oh what fun
To go Chase the Sun’
So from Minster to Burnham on Sea she went
A new lady cyclist from Kent
Followed the KVG wherever they went
She grew strong and fit
And the very best bit?
Her buttocks were hard as cement!
