Kent Velo Girls

Cycling Club

Hildenborough | Kent

Kent Velo Girls (KVG) is a road cycling club for women, founded in 2008. What started as a small group of female cyclists keeping each other company on rides has grown to be one of the UK’s largest women’s cycling clubs.

We are passionate about cycling and welcome women from a wide range of ages and abilities into our cycling community. We ride, we have adventures and we form wonderful friendships.

At KVG there are over 20 club rides a week across 6 days, as well as other training and social events. Our rides range from ‘easy’ to ‘advanced’ level and no pre-booking is required.

We also have a men’s section, Kent Velo Boys, who ride at weekends.

For younger riders, Kent Velo Kids is a separately affliated club that is part of the KVG family.

All members are required to complete a free induction session before they join and will need a drop handlebar road bike to join club rides.

I Ride Because…

“…I am addicted to the endorphins and to the adrenaline. I ride because the second my legs start turning circles I become a happier person. I ride because I love to feel the wind on my face and listen to the birds and bugs. I ride because it allows me to take out my aggression and anger. I ride because it stabilizes my life and creates balance. I ride because going downhill at 40mph makes me feel wild and free. I ride because it allows me to play with the boys. I ride because I can go alone. I ride because even though I have ridden the route 1000 times, I never know what is around the next bend.”

We are proud to be included in a forthcoming feature-length cycling documentary, Chasing the Sun, due for release in 2023.
